Industry Hosted Workshops

This year the e-Content Institute invited leading solution providers, consultants and industry associations to develop half day workshops in association with the 2005 Information Highways Conference.

Designed to compliment the main conference program (Wednesday April 6 and Thursday April 7) the workshops provide a forum for the industry to introduce new solutions and present best practices and product applications.

All workshops include complimentary coffee break and lunch as well as a chance to preview the full Information Highways Exhibit Hall and Showcase.

Morning Workshops – Tuesday April 5, 2005 8:30 am � 1 pm

Workshop 1
Document imaging workshop: what you need to know before you take the plunge!

Take this imaging 101 course aimed at records, document and content managers embarking on new or exhanced organizational imaging programs. It will explain the different areas of document and data capture as well as the components. We will go through the process of what has to be considered before moving forward and the issues and areas that must be addressed from both the technical, financial, and organizational perspective.

Workshop 2
Focus on e-Learning in the workplace: best practices, trends and partnerships

The workshop will focus on the impact of elearning in the Canadian workplace. Topics covered include a description of the scope and scale of the Canadian elearning industry today and how to locate high-quality Canadian suppliers of elearning content, services and technology. The workshop will conclude with a panel discussion focusing on practical advice on developing successful vendor-supplier relationship. Perfect for individuals exploring Learning Management Systems and seeking ways to implement or grow an enterprise elearning systems.

Workshop 3
Knowledge Management: Making the Case for Business Utility

Knowledge management initiatives are finally beginning to fulfill their years of promise. KM success is being achieved by setting attainable goals pegged to an overall business strategy. Academic mega projects have been laid to rest by a disciplined focus on incremental gains in quality and productivity. While this approach may lack the sex appeal of earlier grandiosely nebulous initiatives, they have the advantage of being firmly grounded in reality.This workshop will include looks at real-life examples of KM successes and failures. Participants will also participate in breakout sessions focused on their organizations� KM needs; participants will then present their solutions to the complete group for feedback.

Fuelling the fire: Information professionals powering the enterprise

Information professionals accomplish great things every day. Join your
colleagues as they share their stories in a panel discussion featuring best practices and case studies from powerful information professionals. Learn about the challenges they met and hurdles they overcame in this practical and dynamic session focusing on the skills and innovative approaches used by some of our community�s most respected and successful practitioners. Excellent opportunity for networking and taking away ideas that could make a difference to your enterprise and your career.

Workshop 5
Bridging obstacles in email, workflow and compliance management: trends and best practices

The first session will focus on the major trends and challenges facing the Electronic Document and Records Management (EDRM) industry and providing case-studies of companies that have successfully bridged these obstacles. After the break, participants will have the opportunity to direct questions on content management, email management, workflow management and compliance to a panel of experts. Breakout sessions will allow participants to explore and address their specific challenges.

Workshop 6
Extended ECM Strategies with Adobe Acrobat 7 Professional

Companies need to interface users with disparate systems and business
processes that hold critical business intelligences, as well as extend to
multiple contributors who may reside in different business units or outside
the company’s firewall. This session will focus on using Acrobat 7
Professional to extend the reach of your existing content management
systems, enhancing their effectiveness. The session will look at issues
around compliance and at real life examples of how companies are enhancing
their ECM strategies by leveraging Adobe’s Intelligent Document Platform.
The session will also cover:
a.. Intelligent document structure for repurposing of PDF
b.. Sustaining persistent security out of the ECM
c.. Intelligent data capture using PDF forms
d.. Extending the collaborative process to partners, colleagues

We anticipate that demand for these workshops will be high. Space is limited and all workshops require advance registration. Workshop registration will be available on the regular conference registration page. You are limited to registering for one morning and one afternoon workshop.

If space is not available for a workshop you wish to attend we will put you on a waiting list. Confirmation and No Show

We will confirm your participation by email in the days leading up to the conference. As a courtesy to our workshop sponsors and to other delegates who may be waiting for available spaces we respectfully request that you only register if you are sure you will be able participate. If your plans change we ask that you notify us promptly so that we may give your spot to another delegate.
