Working without a wire: Service delivery in the mobile age

April 6, 2005 – 4:13 am

Launched in 2002, the Government of Canada Wireless Portal envisioned a service that would be more than just a wireless version of the Government of Canada Site. The portals primary goal was to provide a single delivery and access point for the Government of Canadas wireless information and services. With three years experience under their belts the portals producers are in a unique position to share the challenges of delivering services through the wireless medium while exploring how the model differs from the more traditional approach of on-line information service and delivery. A focus on the technical aspects of wireless service delivery is complimented by an exploration of more strategic elements such as the challenges and benefits of cross organizational collaboration, the importance of user feedback and the value of research in developing practical and responsive solutions for user needs.
